The MBA in an age of uncertainty

CarringtonCrisp have published the results of their latest study in to the views of prospective MBAs, Tomorrow's MBA 2012.  In an uncertain world, this year's results suggest uncertainty among potential MBA applicants with almost 30% indicating they would consider a specialist Master's rather than an MBA.

Interest in traditional full-time study also seems to be in decline with just over a third seeking part-time programmes and a further 18% preferring distance learning.  Although those choosing distance programmes often find it hard to get the information they want from schools with around 1 in 3 rejecting a possible programme because they couldn't get the details they wanted or the school was slow to respond.

Inevitably, the internet continues to play a key role in helping students find out about their options, but here there is change as well.  LinkedIn has grown in popularity and social media is becoming ever more important in helping prospective students connect with current students and alumni to find out what it is really like at certain schools.  You can find out more about this year's results and the next round of the study by downloading an Executive Summary by clicking here.
